So many people are caught up with their desire
for improvement in one area of their lives or another, when in truth, the main
thing that they should focus on improving is their mental health. Building up a
strong foundation of mental health will be the key to maintaining the best
possible state of being for every other area of personal development. Physical
health, financial stability, relationship success and professional skill
development are all optimized through achieving a perfect state of mental
health through the following techniques.
Get proper sleep on a regular basis
Simply getting at least 7-9 hours of sleep a night can have wondrous mental benefits. Everything from physical ability to problem-solving fluidity will be doubled when you are properly rested.
Commit yourself to enriching hobbies
A life without hobbies to will be void of color and variety. Seek out anything that you can enjoy doing without needing to pay for it, and prioritize doing it as regularly as you can.
Purify your life of all toxic elements
Don't give any toxic things or people any more exposure in your life than they deserve. If there's something or someone draining your energy that doesn't need to be there, there is no need to keep them there.
Do not live for validation
People waste time and energy to get money for things they don't need, to impress people they have never met. Never base your value on how much approval you get from others. The only approval that you need is the approval that you give yourself.
Stop the negative self-talk
One of the greatest obstacles to feeling like your best self at all times if your own self-criticism. If you have any doubts or reservations based on past disappointments or uncertainty about the future, then you'll feel worlds better as soon as you can let go of these things; this is naturally easier said than done, but the benefits cannot be understated.
It's fine and well to have high expectations of yourself, but you will only truly be mentally liberated after freeing yourself from all self-deprecating thought patterns. Keep your expectations realistic and forgive yourself for being a fallible human.
Meditate every day
You might be surprised at just how refreshing it can be to simply sit and meditate for a few minutes at a time every day. You can schedule your meditation before waking up or before going to bed, but no matter when you choose to meditate, so in a place where you can be free of all other distractions. Mindfulness is the act of taking back your mental agency from things that are out of your control.
